Mr. Wang: Generally speaking, the development of ball mill in China has a great improvement. Because of the development of new materials technology, equipment abrasion is decreased obviously, compared with the past. We can produce all kinds of ultrafine powder equipment currently used in industry.

Mr. Wang: Yes, you can. Since 1980s, we introduce and absorb foreign advanced processing equipment. Through the development of nearly 20 - 30 years, China has now can produce all kinds of ball mill and precise classification equipment by themselves. In the five years of new processing factory, China has played an important role.
Host: I know that the transmission mode of ball mill at home and abroad is also different. Can you introduce it for us?
Mr. Wang: I¡¯m glad. The large scale ball mill uses the low speed and synchronous motor. The advantages are the high transmission efficiency, small occupation area, and convenient repair. The big and medium-sized ball mill also uses the asynchronous electric to drive. Asynchronous motor is cheap, but it also has a set of large reducer. These methods have their advantages and disadvantages. If the domestic ball mill wants to overtake the foreign mill, we must do more efforts in the motor drive.

Mr. Wang: Yes. Although there are many types grinding machines, the ball mill has its own advantages. So it is still loved by most customers. We can often see the shadow of ball mill in some industries, such as, mineral processing, cement, building materials and chemical industry etc. It is widely used in cement, silicate products, new building materials, refractory materials, chemical fertilizer, black and non-ferrous metal processing, and glass ceramics industry production. It can be used for the dry grinding or wet grinding for all kinds of ores and other materials.
Host: In recent years, how about the current development of ball mill in China?
Mr. Wang: With the development of our science and technology, China has gradually towards the direction of large-scale ball mill. An ore dressing plant in China introduces 6 sets overflow type ball mill. It was imported from Sweden Svedala group. The ball mill¡¯s diameter is 5.49 x 8.83 metres. Its power is 4410 kilowatts, and the rotate speed is 13.72 rpm. The device putted into operation in 1998. At present, the largest domestic mill is the overflow type ball mill with the diameter of 7.32 metres x 10.68 metres.
Host: Most ball mills are introduced from the foreign counties. Now, based on foreign advanced technology, we begin to research and develop the new ball mill. Right?
Mr. Wang: Yes, you are right. Now, we have already begun the independent development of ball mill. Some domestic manufacturers begin to pay attention to the creation. And there are more and more investment funds in the development of machine.

At present, the major manufacturers of large ball mill in the world have the Danish Fowler Smith mineral company (FFE Minerals), Finland Otto Quinn F (Outokumpu), Finland Metso mineral company (Metso Minerals), a German Krupp Corp (Krupp) and Japan's Kawasaki heavy industries etc. These manufacturers are very excellent sellers in the world.
Host: At present, how about the Current development of ball mill in abroad?
Mr. Wang: At present, the world largest specifications wet ball mill is the two mill ordered by South Africa Anglo Platinum ore. Its diameter is 7.92 meters by 12.2 meters, and the installed capacity is 17500 KW. It is made by the Danish Fowler Smith mineral company, and has been put into use in 2007. The dry-type ball mill with the maximum size in the world is produced by Krupp Corp. Its diameter is 6.2 x 25.5 meters, and the installed power is 11200 KW. In 1994, it is used in a gold mine in the United States to treat the refractory gold ore.
